She steps out into the morning air and with a subtle toss of her head turns her face into the breeze, nose twitching like that of the wild animals whose habitats she calls her own. Inhaling deeply, she takes in the earthy aromas spinning erratically in the air around her. Fighting off the urge to turn away and run back to the places that hold her heart, she opens the door and in crossing the threshold dies a little inside.
